Open Carolina on iTunes U

The Carolina on iTunes U initiative is intended to provide a common platform and distribution method, with associated administrative tools, for a wide range of digital media content across The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This content will be largely instructional in nature, taking the form of lecture podcasts, audio or video tutorials, and other supplemental course material. It may also include assets geared towards public service/civic engagement or marketing, as well as student-authored projects in multiple disciplines. The initiative’s primary goal is not only to provide a foundation for intelligent technology integration with measurable pedagogical impact and campus-wide benefit, but also to serve as a model for intra-campus partnerships and federated governance of a major technology-driven project.

The UNC Chapel Hill iTunes U initiative was founded and is supported by a broad consortium of schools and departments including the School of Law, the Division of Student AffairsKenan-Flagler Business School, the School of Information and Library Science, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Communication Studies, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the General Alumni Association, the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy the School of Dentistry, the School of Government and the School of Public Health.
